State of Missouri Places Top Five in National Ranking in 2026 Government Experience Awards

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – The State of Missouri has been ranked top five overall nationwide for government experience in the 2026 Government Experience Awards, presented by the Center for Digital Government (CDG).

The annual Government Experience Awards (GovX) recognize state, county, and municipal governments that demonstrate an exceptional level of innovation and service delivery, serving as nationwide models in the government experience movement. Missouri's fifth-place overall ranking highlights the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD)’s ongoing digital modernization efforts, and focus on delivering user-friendly, responsive online public services.

"We are honored to be named an overall state government experience winner in the 2026 Government Experience Awards," said OA-ITSD Chief Information Officer John Laurent. "This recognition is made possible by the support in IT from Governor Mike Kehoe, OA Commissioner Kurt Schaefer and the Missouri Legislature. It reflects our workforce's dedication to creating accessible, modern, and citizen-focused digital services. By streamlining online interactions Missouri continues to make government simpler and more responsive for all citizens and businesses across the state."

The GovX awards evaluate public sector organizations on criteria including user experience design, citizen engagement, digital equity, interagency data integration, and quantifiable community outcomes.

"Congratulations to this year's GovX Award winners," said Rob Lloyd, executive director of the Center for Digital Government. "These awards set a high bar, with expert judges looking closely at the design and impact of services. This recognition reflects the commitment, creativity, and hard work governments are investing in being more responsive and accessible. We celebrate the teams who are pushing government forward and turning ideas into results for communities across the nation."

OA-ITSD has collaborated with state agency partners to deliver intuitive digital services, including the my.mo.gov citizen portal, the redesigned mo.gov website featuring the AskMO chatbot, and enhanced cybersecurity protections across executive departments.

Additional information on the awards and the complete list of 2026 winners are available through the Center for Digital Government.
