Attorney General Hanaway Recognizes Two AGO Attorneys for Public Service Award
Today, Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway recognized Public Protection Section’s Chief Counsel Gregory Goodwin for receiving the Lon O. Hocker Award, and Assistant Attorney General Andrew Clarke for receiving the David J. Dixon Award. These awards, presented by The Missouri Bar Foundation, recognize lawyers who exemplify professionalism and strong judicial skills, qualities demonstrated by both through their service to the people of Missouri through their work at the Attorney General’s Office.
“Both Greg and Andrew reflect the mission and values of this office perfectly,” said Attorney General Hanaway. “Their tenacity, professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the people of Missouri are evident in their daily work. We are proud to see their contributions recognized with these honors.”
The Lon O. Hocker Award is given to three young lawyers under the age of 40 from the three areas of St. Louis, Kansas City, and all other remaining counties. The recipients are lawyers who exemplify professionalism, high ethical conduct, and possess a quick wit in the courtroom that is supported by meticulous preparation in the pursuit of truth. They are chosen based on their demonstrated balance between zealousness and honor, strength and courtesy, and confidence and respect.
The David J. Dixon Appellate Advocacy Award recognizes outstanding achievement in appellate practice by young lawyer members of The Missouri Bar. The award identifies and acknowledges those Missouri lawyers who excel in advocacy skills as observed by appellate judges within the appellate district in the State of Missouri, the Supreme Court of Missouri, and/or the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Chief Counsel Greg Goodwin and Assistant Attorney General Andrew Clarke serve in the Public Protection Section under the Criminal Litigation Division. They work extensively with local prosecutors and state and federal law enforcement agencies. The Section consists of the Special Prosecutors Unit, Habeas Unit, Sexually Violent Predator Unit (SVP), Victim Services and Legal Support Unit.
